Predicting the upcoming weather is not possible for a human. This unpredictable weather conditions affect the growth of plants. Every seed and crop has different weather requirements for healthy growth, which can be maintained with the help of greenhouse benches. Several manufacturers are available in the market to design greenhouse benching to solve your planting needs. These benches are manufactured in several designs with several types of materials to offer a huge scope to the gardeners for growing plants.

If you are thinking to buy a bench system, then you should first determine what you want to grow in your greenhouse. You should also consider the efficiency of your greenhouse before making any of the purchases. How much space you want to leave for maneuver around the benches? Do you want to fix them into the greenhouse or want the movable one?

Grow on the Ground:

The most-affordable way is growing on the ground. Planting on the ground can save you money on the bench installation and can also give you the flexibility to rearrange the whole layout as per your requirement and convenience. However, it may complicate the growth with several diseases and rots. Therefore, benching is more recommended for the healthy growth of plants.

Materials to Design Benches:

When you install the bench against the wall, then 36-inch of height and width is good enough to meet with your requirements. On the other side, freestanding benches can be installed with the same height, but let the gardeners work from either side of the bench by offering width of up to six feet. There are lots of factors to consider for choosing a right type of material for greenhouse benching, which includes durability, cost, weight capacity, rot resistance, height, air flow, water flow, ease of movement, etc.

Wooden Benches: Wooden benches are used widely in designing stationary benches. They are resistant from the decay and can be painted with some preservatives to make the plants safe from rot. Redwood, cedar, cypress, and locust are the most popular wood types in the manufacturing of these wooden benches. You can choose the all-wood or the combination of wood and some other materials for your benching requirement. However, wood needs high maintenance, hence, expanded metal or welded wire are used as the base in such benches.

Concrete: Some benching systems are entirely manufactured with concrete, including the support. They are permanent and cannot be rearranged later. They are durable and don’t need to use with some other materials or go through some treatments to resist the decay. However, you can reinforce it with steel rods for extra durability.

Metal: Galvanized metal is rot and decay resistant, hence, most popular in commercial greenhouses. Despite the expensive price, gardeners prefer this benching due to its low maintenance cost, durability, and longevity.

Plastic: Plastic frames are becoming popular among people, who grow plants in their premises as a hobbyist. Its low maintenance cost, portability, durability, and capability of supporting enough weight have increased the users of these bench systems.

You can buy such products or shade structure for your greenhouse at reasonable rates, if conduct a proper research on the manufacturer and retailer for the quality and the cost.
