Beijing City Tours - Beijing is the renowned capital of China. It is otherwise referred to as the Northern Capital of the Chinese Republic. It is regarded as the world's third most populous city.

It consists of 16 urban, suburban and rural districts. The city is administered as a municipality, under the central government. It possesses around 289 towns and villages.

The city is an important global power, being one of the world's leading hub for politics, economy and business, finance, culture, education, innovation and technology, language, architecture and diplomacy.

It houses the highest number of Fortune Global 500 companies in the world. It is also a major centre for national highway, expressway, railway and various other high-speed rail networks.

It very well blends both traditional and modern architecture. The city is well-known for its luxurious palaces, parks, temples, gardens, walls, gates and tombs. It has seven UNESCO World Heritage sites, all of which are popular among denizens and tourists.

It is situated at the northern tip of the roughly triangular North China Plain, which opens to the south and east of the city. The city is aptly shielded by mountains in the north, north-west and west. Chaobai, Yongding and Juma are some primary rivers flowing through the city, to name a few.

The city is laid down in concentric ring roads. Beijing has no shortage of wonderful sightseeing spots and is home to some of the country's top-rated tourist attractions.

Among the city's various historical and cultural monuments are the Imperial Palace, Beihai Park, Coal Hill Park and the Heavenly Temple. Other remarkable highlights include the huge Tian'anmen Square, numerous important temples and fresh constructions brought about by the city's augmented prosperity and major events.

The Imperial Palace is China's most significant building and is also called the Forbidden City. This marvelous palace has been home to 24 Ming and Qing emperors. Tian'anmen Square was built in the year 1958, to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Chinese Republic.

It is designed to hold a million people and is the world's largest inner-city square. Beihai Park is situated near the Imperial Palace, just a few kilometers away. It was constructed in the beginning of the 10th century and derives its name from Lake Beihai.

This beautiful open area offers many good reasons to pay a visit. The Temple of Heaven is surrounded by lush green vegetation. These old temples and splendid shrines are set out in two sections.
