Batch 2012 Of IMT- NIIT Imperia Visits IMT Ghaziabad Campus For Leadership Simulation Workshops
Lots
of learning experiences‚ new techniques and terminology‚ and continuous
education marked the Batch-2012 IMT Ghaziabad’s Executive Learning Development
and NIIT Imperia participants’ experience while on their second campus visit to
IMT Ghaziabad. The Leadership Simulation Workshops conducted at
IMT-Ghaziabad were truly experiential business strategy workshops. The
workshops were designed to teach strategic decision-making skills and assist in
a top management level understanding of the business impact of decision-making
to the managers in an organisation. For three jam-packed days of simulations‚
discussions and photo-shoots interspersed with coffee breaks and lunch‚
participants were playing the roles of top managers in virtual companies that
competed with each other in a simulated business environment‚ providing a
learning platform across management functions.
Participants were
grouped into cross-functional teams of top management of virtual companies for
simulation exercises. They were asked to carefully go through the pre-reading
material‚ which included the Learning Curve Course Material. This gave them the
business context of the company whose top management they would join and the
AME Classic‚ a note by Donald C. Hambrick and James W. Fredrickson‚ which
helped them formulate a business strategy for their company.
Said Thomas Poonen‚
a participant‚ “The 'Strategy Simulation Workshop' was a great experience.
Thanks to IMT Ghaziabad and the faculty for putting in so much effort in making
it a success.” Balaji Chandru‚ another participant‚ said‚ “We got fabulous
exposure through the workshop. It has given us a new perceptions and a new way
of looking at business.” Seetharam Gundurao remarked enthusiastically‚ “It was
a lot of learning and working as a team‚ which made the experiential exercise
immensely interesting.” Fellow participant Hiren Sharma said‚ “We had no idea
about the extent of exposure we would get through this programme. All this was
possible because of the sheer commitment of the programme organisers and most
importantly‚ the amazing variety of expertise shared by the batch members. The
journey should never end; learning should always go on. I am happy at having
got the chance to attend it.”
Participants also
had various reasons for attending the workshop. For example‚ Vidya Swaminathan
who works at Aditya Birla Retail‚ said‚ “The classroom method encourages you to
study‚ helps in improving your certification and will certainly help in my
career.” Vidya‚ who holds a BSc in technology and management and has 11 years
of experience in banking and the financial services industry‚ was all
praise for IMT-Ghaziabad’s campus‚ which she feels is ‘great’.
Another
participant‚ Mani Preeti‚ who holds a BSc degree and a PG Diploma in Retail
Banking and has worked with Tata Retail Banking‚ also had clear-cut reasons for
attending the workshop. Mani remarked‚ “I wanted to get updated and to enhance
my education for personal satisfaction. I am glad I chose this course to
give that extra edge to my career. Undoubtedly‚ IMT Ghaziabad is a leading
institute in delivering advanced level specialized programmes for working
professionals. “
