The first people to use a tie were Croatians and they were using clothing known as cravat. People around Europe started to use the cravat style with alterations. After sometime, the tie became a necktie and then a bow tie.  Before the ties were meant to be worn on the formal social event alone but afterwards, men started to use them in the professional dressing code.

Different types of a tie

Men can choose ties from different options starting from cheap ties to more expensive Designer Ties.  There are many types of ties such as the classic necktie which uses the knot near the throat and it hangs around neck.  The clip-on are the ties that attach the clips and they can fasten a tie at the front of the shirt collar. The clip-on were popular in the 1960s but they are making the comeback.

The ascot tie looks like original cravat. The tie has wide pointed ends on the neck with a band that wraps on the neck, it looks more like a thick scarf.  The bow is the common type with a band that passes around the neck and it is worn with a formal shirt. The bolo tie is shoestring necktie and it uses braided and cord leather.  The novelty tie is the same as classic tie or Anchor Tie but they encompass music, science and sports theme.

Different materials used to make ties

The ties are also classified according to the materials that are used to make them.  Most common materials are rayon and linen. The linen tie gets wrinkled easily and these wrinkles are hard to get rid of. The rayon tie loses shape after being worn only few times.

Italian Silk Ties is the strongest material when it comes to tie because it is natural fiber and it is preferred when it comes to make classic neckties.  They are lightweight with extended durability. Silk is used to offer the resistance against the wrinkles or stains but it is also for luxury statement.  Silk ties are found in different color combinations.

Polyester is used to mimic the look of the silk ties. However, it is cheap and it does not have many redeeming qualities.  The polyester tie is stiff and it becomes the problem if someone sits and the tie fails to give in.  Because of this stiffness, they retain the original shape.

Knitted ties

The customers can buy Knitted Tie or woven tie made in wool. The tie stretch out of the shape faster and the knitted garments do not have enough stress-resistant quality.  The woven tie should have a tight constructed band with a woven wrap for the neck.  The woven fabrics are able to absorb the pressure and this is why the woven ties are the most preferred options.

Besides the Knitted Ties in wool, the ties can also be made in cotton. The cotton is heavy enough and it prevents the wrinkles while maintaining the original shape of the tie.  The cotton ties are found in limited color patterns and especially lighter options which do not bleed while being washed.
