One of the most played and loved sport in the world is baseball. Adults, children, men and women play the game. There’s a lot of people make baseball as the most important sport in their lives. Because the game is not just about fun, health, and pleasure but it is also about teamwork, confidence, and stamina.

Commonly, there is no height or weight limitation in the game. As long as you are able to play that kind of amusement then you’re in. It is obvious that baseball has been adapted by many people globally but how does the game began? Many people relate baseball to a game softball and vice versa. Softball is a variant of baseball indeed but we’re not be talking about who invented softball but let’s focus on baseball itself.

Beginnings of the Game

The game baseball was earliest known in the US. One British sportswriter named Henry Chadwick speculating that baseball derived from a British game called rounders but this game was fundamentally an American sport and deeply began on American soil. The game plays an important role in American culture. Though it creates some uncertainties today such as declining participation at the amateur level and denotes extended labor problems at the professional level, everyone still believes that the game is such an incredible pastime.

There’s some sort of stick and ball game like cricket in most cultures. However, the exact origins of the game are unknown but most historians agree that it is created based on the game rounders. It then becomes popular in the American countries in the early 19th century. A few years later, the growing popularity of the game called base, baseball or town ball has been spread throughout the world.

The Game Inventor

Throughout that century, a small town in the area formed teams. In larger cities, clubs were formed. To formalize the rules and settle the matter of who invented baseball, the fourth president of the National League of Professional Baseball Clubs appointed a commission in which six other sports executives is included. After that, it declared that Abner Doubleday had invented the national pastime.

Abner Doubleday was a civil war hero who never knew that he had invented baseball and that would have been a surprise to him. He was anointed as the “father of the game” 15 years after his death. No one saw the so-called inventor lives today but various reference reports say that the myth about his baseball game invention came from a Colorado mining. The game was then regularly played during Saturdays on the outskirts of New York City.

However, many people say that Abner Doubleday was not really the one invented the game. Although popular legend says he was but the true baseball father was actually Alexander Cartwright. The well-known’s America’s baseball is the closest relative of game rounders and cricket. These games traveled across the Atlantic and as the decades passed the children of the first colonizers of the New World played both those games.

Baseball was invented by Abner Doubleday is just a myth which means there is nearly no room to be fact. Even Abner himself claimed that he was not the one created the game as he never mentioned it his journals and letters. This is because there is no record of Civil War General Abner Doubleday having anything to do with the game. In fact, one reference stated he was a man who didn’t even care for outdoor sports.

The matter that makes people starts thinking Doubleday invented baseball is when The Mills Commission put together a panel to investigate the origin of the game. The real history of baseball in people’s mind is a little complicated. But what we can have exact is that the baseball game has planted into the heart of various sports players worldwide.

The Game Today

Baseball began to arise before the America's Civil War as rounders. The early champions of the game include the kind of skills and mental judgment that made cricket respectable in England. Particularly, scoring and record-keeping have given baseball gravity. Playing baseball without records is inconceivable nowadays.

Today, baseball was introduced in various countries. The game widely expanded its geographical range. Many of the games’ rules and regulations were in changed. Still, baseball remains one of the most important pastimes we have today.
