Autonomous Cars Market size to be increased by 24 million units by 2024

Autonomous connected cars in the Asia-Pacific region is said to reach 24 million units by 2024, as said by Graphic research. The main reason behind such substantial growth is the increase in R&D activities in the region. Another major reason for the expansion of autonomous vehicles is the growing market size. The wide possibility of integration of such self-driving to the BEVs (Battery Electric Vehicle) acts as an aid to the growth.

Many countries, such as India, Singapore, Malaysia, are creating a better infrastructure for the implementation of electric vehicles, that will, later on, help in the growth of autonomous vehicles as well. 

A recent study said that with the wide adoption of ADAS automotive technology in India is boosting the growth of autonomous vehicle market. As every other industry is currently tightening their safety norms, so are the auto manufacturers. They are deploying ADAS in their vehicles not only to gain the trust of their consumers but at the same time to support the self-driving technology.

A stat prepared by the National Safety Council (NSC) showcased that the number of deaths in 2017 was more when compared to 2007.

Elaine Cho, who is the Secretary of Transportation and Dr Mark R. Rosekind, NHTSA Administrator, mentioned that 94% of the deaths were usually caused by drunk drinking and speeding. The Executive Director of the Governors Highway Safety Association (Jonathan Adkins) said, "driver distraction and our society's addiction to electronic devices is likely playing a role in the increase in deaths". Making it even more important that we have more autonomous cars in the market.

With the increase seen in the demand of Autonomous Vehicles, safety and security are some crucial aspects one considers. The consumer demand is evolving as one continues to move from one SAE level of autonomy to another. The demand varies on four different dimensions- Trusted, Transparent, Humanized, and Fluid.
