Apple Maps Redesign Finished: Here is how to use the New Features

Apple Maps received a thorough update, and it is now coming with lots of new features that you should learn how to use. In this article, we are going to introduce the Redesigned Apple Maps and its newly added functions. Let’s get started.

Past month, Apple declared it had completed the development of the Apple Maps redesigned app along with the iOS13 update. Now the users can get the newly reconstructed Apple Maps for iPad and iPhone users. The newly added features in the redesigned Apple are extremely useful. For example, the new ETA sharing feature allows users to keep others updated with your arrival time as well as your current location. The ETA stands for an estimated time of arrival, and it can make help you to keep others updated with your estimated arrival time. The feature is indeed helpful and innovative in the smartphone tech.

Another new feature added in the Apple Maps is known as Look Around, which is similar to the Street View feature on Google Maps. Not only is Apple Maps improved in iOS 13, but many other functions are redesigned along with the newly designed swipe keyboard., However, it is unsure whether all the users will like it or not.

 Share Your ETA

The ETA sharing feature is extremely handy that is added in iOS 13 as it can help you on many occasions. You can share your estimated arrival time with anyone from your contacts on your phone. You could share it with the various communication apps, including iMessage, Apple Maps, and text. In case you want to use the Share ETA feature on your iPhone, please see the instructions mentioned down here:

• Begin the Apple Maps navigation as you normally do with using the turn-by-turn direction towards your destination.
• While using current directions, make an upward swipe on the lower area of the screen where you see your arrival time as well as the end option.
• Then you will see the Share ETA link.
• Make sure to press on it. 
• Now choose the contact that you want to share your estimated arrival time.
• Post pressing the Share ETA option, you will see the list of contacts to share your arrival time, but some of them have the AppleMap icon along with their name, and some of them have Message icon. The contacts with the Apple Maps icon are those contacts that are also using the iPhone.

Note:

If your iPhone is updated to the iOS 13.1 or latest and the other receiver person also has the iOS 13.1 or newer version installed, then you can share your ETA and location within the Apple Maps app.

In case the other person is using an ordinary Android phone or any other phone excluding iPhone, then the user will get your estimated arrival time via text message. He will see a text similar to this: “I began sharing my ETA with you using Apple Maps: Arriving at New York airport approximately 10:44 AM. I will tell you if there is any update in my arrival time.”  

More Detailed Map

Apple dedicated much of the time to develop a more detailed map, and the appearance of the map is also refined. The new appearance of Apple Maps begun with a slow-developing process in the US after the release of iOS 13 in September 2019. To observe the more detailed map changes in the Apple Maps update, open the Apple Maps app and then look around in the map of your area. Use zoom in or zoom out to verse the new changes as the newly improved and more detailed map feels much natural.

How to Access the Look Around Feature

In case you are is not compatible with the Look Around feature on Apple Maps, then you should not be panic. Here’s how to use the Look Around feature even if your city is not supported:

1. Navigate to Apple Maps and then zoom in on the city that supports the Look Around feature.
2. Now zoom in to a particular area and until the binoculars icon appears on the top-right corner of the screen. 
3. Choose the binoculars to trigger the Look Around.
4. A new tab would appear where you can look around at the place. It is very much similar to Google’s Street View.
5. Now you can swipe your fingers on the screen to change the direction to look up & down.
