    • Select the Host Multi-User Access option.

Solution 2: Update QuickBooks Desktop manually 

  1. At first, close the company file and your QuickBooks Desktop.

  2. Click the Windows Start button.

  3. Locate and right-click on QuickBooks Desktop.  

  4. Thereafter, choose Run as administrator. 

  5. Now, on the No Company Open screen, click the Help menu and then choose Update QuickBooks Desktop.

  6. Move to the Options tab, choose Mark All, and after this, click Save.

  7. Click the Updates Now tab.

  8. Choose the Reset Update checkbox.

  9. Once you are ready, click Get Updates.

  10. In the end, once you are done with the update process,click Close and then re-open QuickBooks Desktop. To install the updates, click Yes. 

Solution 3. Verify whether the issue is with the Company file or QuickBooks 


  1. Click the Windows Start menu located on the left side of the desktop.

  2. Type “File Explorer” in the search box and click File Explorer to open it.

  3. Now, locate the file named “QuickBooks.exe.” You will get this file in your QB folder itself.

  4. Keep pressing the Ctrl key on your keyboard and double-click on the QuickBooks.exe file. (Note: You need to press the Ctrl key until the QuickBooks Desktop opens on your screen).
