Amish Furniture Is Made With Quality and Care

The Amish people in the United States occupy at least 47 states and they form close knit communities. They are a religious group that originally split off from the Mennonites in Switzerland, and there are several different groups of Amish in the United States and Canada that follow one of five different religious orders. Besides the Amish religious history, they also have a history of being separate from other people groups and they live without modern conveniences like T.V.s, computers, and telephones. Most of the Amish people are farmers, but some also build furniture or sew quilts. Amish furniture has become very popular in the United States and in other parts of the world because it is expertly made and very elegant and sturdy.

 

Another one of the reasons why Amish furniture is so popular is because it’s made without modern power tools – making it very eco-friendly – and the most advanced equipment used is run off of small generators. Otherwise the furniture is made entirely with unpowered hand tools. Amish wood furniture is not only well-made and sturdy, but buying Amish style furniture also helps support their communities. The only reason why some Amish are able to turn to alternative careers besides farming is because their furniture and quilts are bought by people outside of their communities.

Years ago, it used to be that Amish made furniture was only available by going directly to the Amish people, but in recent years, the internet has made it possible to sell Amish furniture across the country and even worldwide.
