by Tyler P. A Passionate Blogger - Entertainment
An Umbilical Hernia is a medical condition where the abdominal wall behind the navel is damaged. This causes the stomach muscles to protrude outwards, through the navel. The bulge consists of abdominal fat usually originating from the small intestines.

Normally, treatment for umbilical hernia is surgery, however there are other alternative forms of treatment like Ayurveda, and individuals do not have to go through the painful procedure of surgery.

Majority of hernias are not life threatening, and normally go away on their own. There are a few remedies one can undertake to prevent its occurrence, and these are:

1) Ayurveda Medicine: Ayurveda treatment is a tried and tested method of treatment for many diseases. One may consult and discuss their ailment with a certified medical practitioner of Ayurveda, and its possible remedies. Normally, Ayurveda doctors may prescribe medication if the condition is severe or may advise the patient to undertake a few lifestyle changes. Some of the common medication prescribed to hernia patients are:

a) Acidim: This maintains the body pH levels. It removes radicals from the small intestines and acta as a catalyst in the entire healing process.

b) Hernica:
Hernica acts by removing or calming any inflammation in the intestinal walls, and strengthens the abdominal wall.

Ayurveda medicine offers the perfect opportunity to individuals who want to get Umbilical Hernia treatment without surgery. Although treatment does not stop only at medication, patients are advised to follow certain changes to their lifestyle for medication to be effective.

These lifestyle habits the patients might have to make and follow strictly are as follows:

a) Eating frequent but regulated meals. Patients suffering from umbilical hernia are advised to have small portions of food, as this will lead to less stress on the intestinal walls. However, this is not an excuse to overeat.

b) Patients are advised to avoid eating fatty or spicy foods. Fruit juices and soda and coffee should be avoided so that the pH levels of the body is not disturbed. Popping an antacid before meals is advised as this will help in managing systems.

c) Avoid physical activity after meals. Avoid lifting heavy objects. Do not bend or lie down immediately after eating as this might lead to backflow of the stomach and can lead to further damage or injury to the affected area.

d) If you are overweight, work towards losing some weight, as this will relieve pressure on abdominal and stomach walls. Having a healthy diet and exercising regularly will help you achieve this goal.

e) Consider taking painkillers if you are in pain. Painkillers work by blocking certain receptors travelling to the brain, and diminish any pain caused by the disease.

Ayurveda is an ancient system of medicine which is believed to have originated in the Indian sub-continent. It works on simple fundamentals of nature, which says that the elements present in nature namely fire, air, water, earth should be in tune with the elements of the body. If the elements are in balance, an individual is said to be healthy, and if the elements are in disarray or not in tune, the body is said to be unhealthy.

There are simple lifestyle changes as the ones mentioned above, which an individual can adopt to remain healthy. If needed, medication can also be prescribed by Ayurveda doctors.
