The WagonR has been in the Indian automobile market since 1999 and has remained a firm favorite among car buyers ever since. However, with the automobile industry entering a more advanced age, Suzuki felt it prudent to upgrade the car to the next level and launched the WagonR Stingray in order to achieve that. One might feel that an upgrade to an already popular car was unnecessary on the part of the manufacturer, but going by its ever increasing popularity, one has to admit that it wasn’t a bad idea after all.

Exteriors

At first sight, it may seem that Suzuki has created the Stingray on the blueprint of the WagonR, but on closer inspection, one will be able to spot some major differences between the two models. Admittedly, the new car gives the impression of being much more aggressive than its predecessor. It gets a reflector front grille as compared to the chrome grille in the previous model. It also gets projector headlamps and a large front bumper with fog lamps on either side. The rear of the car is more like its predecessor with the same design of the tail lamps. However, there are some upgrades here too with the new roof mounted spoilers and a chrome strip just over the number plate.

Interiors

Suzuki has made some attractive changes inside the car too. The dashboard has been upgraded along with the upholstery. An attractive piano black finish makes the dashboard and the doors quite appealing to look at. Space is ample inside the car just like the previous model and the driver is able to reach all the controls quite easily. The company has included all the modern facilities such as power windows, nicely placed air-conditioning vents, electrically operated OVRM, and an up-to-date audio system with speakers on all doors.

Engine and Performance

Inside the bonnet, the Stingray houses the same 998 cc K-series petrol engine that powers the WagonR. Known for its fuel efficiency, this engine can churn out a peak power of 67.1 Bhp and a maximum torque of 90 Nm, which are quite impressive for this lightweight vehicle. It provides a stunning mileage of 20.51 kmpl.

The Stingray is an important car in the armory of Suzuki, which takes on the likes of Ford Figo, Hyundai i10, and Tata Indica eV2 head on. For Suzuki spare parts and other genuine Suzuki parts one may visit BP Auto Spares India, the most reputed auto-parts dealer in the country.
