Palace on Wheels is not something new that needs an introduction. The train has been a part of the luxury train list of India for several years and has attracted numerous international tourists to take a trip to India. a) Palace on Wheels is the first luxury train ever to run in India.
b) The train is on the tracks since 1982. It was originally operated by Rajasthan Tourism development Corporation and now is under the control of Indian Railways.
c) The train was redesigned in 2009 with all modern facilities. In 2010, it was voted as the fourth best luxury train in the world.
d) The train has re-used the saloons used by the kings of India and the British viceroys before independence. Each saloon gets its name from the princely state from which it was collected from.
e) Since 2010, it has been in the list of top ten luxury trains in the world.
f) The Palace on Wheels has a separate platform reserved in the railway station which enables the tourists to park their vehicle right next to their cabin for easy loading.
g) The speed of the train is very slow than any normal train in the country. This enables the tourists to enjoy the facilities inside the train with ease.
