All About Winter Tyres

by Martin Lee Automobile Blogger
If you want to ensure that your car tyres work properly for a long period, it is essential to replace them routinely. There is a series of the processes involved in repairing and maintaining a tyre which may include checking the pressure, replacing the rubber from the rim, and making sure the treads are even etc.

Efficient traction, firm grip, and short braking distances are some of the criteria that your tyres must-have. Tyres should also ensure that it doesn’t get deteriorated or damaged easily but rather gives a smooth and comfortable driving experience.

You may decide to buy different car tyres for specific environments and road conditions like summer tyres may be used for effective cornering on dry roads. Whereas, winter or snow tyres are used for gripping through the ice, and biting through the ice. But the performance tyres are specially designed for high speeds. Some tyre has special alloys to enhance the visual appeal of your car. Considering these, some tyres are way costlier than the normal price. Since tyres help in enhancing the power and performance of a car, they should be chosen from a renowned brand.

The standard tyres Sheffield usually struggle to give power on the road but the performance tyres are stickier which gives better handling operations. Performance tyres generally, come with speed ratings.

Winter Tyres Sheffield

When the temperature drops below 7-degree Celsius, it becomes essential to replace to winter tyres Sheffield. The rubber in the standard tyre starts to lose the elasticity to properly grip the road. But in winter tyres, you may find more silica that helps to retain performance, and enhanced grip for icy road surfaces.

Winter tyres significantly help to maintain the grip and balance on the road. The groves in the tyres are wide and deep and are able to form a bigger passage to channel the snow and water. The rubber is used more naturally in these tyres as compared to other synthetic use of hard rubbers.

But these tyres have some drawbacks as well. They are not effective in temperatures above 7 Degrees-C as the grip could be damaged. Therefore, it is advised to not use these tyres in normal weather as they can be worn out if they are used in hot temperatures but the special tread design and deep grooves help to bite into the snow and allow better drainage of water. They also have short stopping distance on snowy surfaces and gives more support while driving on the hill or cornering on the roads.

Winter tyres are absolutely essential and become a great choice to be able to work smoothly on an icy surface. All these tyres are tested and tried several times before selling in the market. They undergo special winter traction, and the tyre which successfully passes gets a snowflake symbol on its sidewalls. If a tyre has an M+ S symbol, it means the tyre is designed to resist both muddy and snowy surfaces. They will provide great grip, traction, and handling on such surfaces.
