Summary:

The present article is all about the gifts that passengers’ bestow on the flight attendants in lieu of the multiple tasks carried out by them.

Although their prime responsibility is to be there for the safety of fliers the truth is flight attendants play multiple roles from time to time. They have to be nurses, nannies, judges, jury while flying, entertainer and a lot more. They often receive no gifts in return and hence it is expected from the part of passengers to gift them something or the other as a gesture of gratitude.

What are some commonly gifted items?

Small items like shrink wrapped box of chocolate or donuts or a t-shirt may be a cosmetic item or any other the thing that they can use ready and happy to receive.

How Should Aircrew Gifts be given?

Flight attendants are allowed to receive these small and pleasant gifts from passengers. Aircrew gifts are just pleasantries and there is no hard and fast rule of doing so. It is good for passengers to avoid cash. Instead of cash, the idea of gifting something that can show their appreciation and kindness with small treats is a step in the right direction. The best way to gift something is to save your purchase for the airport, picking out a just a small and shareable thing from any airport shop and get it to gift packed.

You just have to keep that gift within your reach and before your eyes so that you do not forget. Once you are on the plane, you do not have to reach for the call button. Instead, you just need to get up and present that gift to the flight attendants right in your cabin. This is something that you can do easily while boarding. You can gift them when the crew is there in the aisles welcoming and assisting the passengers. These gifts are more appreciated when flights are lengthy.

You can also choose to gift them right after the first meal service especially if it is something sweet. To make the gift even sweeter you can leave a message over it showing an expression of gratitude like “Thank you from seat 22A.” This way crew would know where you exactly are and can give you a favor back. In some cases, flight attendants happily share the gift with passengers if it is something eatable like chocolates.

Do not forget to mention the note that this is a gift for you from the behalf of crew and cabin with a wish from them that you too enjoy the flight and keep safe! There are some passengers who gift Pilot Mugs. These mugs are yet another beautiful pleasantry and have become a common gift. So, the next time you are flying do not forget to carry a sweet gift for the flight attendants that do multiple tasks for you.
