Air is considered polluted these days with dust, mold, bacteria and even pollen. This dirty air when inhaled continuously leads to health problems. Earlier it was thought that the air outside is the one that is polluted and not the internal or indoor air. But the same can’t be said these days. Even the indoor air is as polluted as the outdoor air. These dust particles mixed with air when inhaled leads to chronic health problems and in others respiratory problems. Some people are even allergic to the pollen dust and this polluted air creates a great problem for them. A research has claimed that most of the illness and disability found in America is due to the inhaling of the dirty polluted air.

The common solution for this is the usage of air filters, which help in air purification in the home. The device air filter is known to contain fibrous materials which are capable of removing particles that affect the human respiratory system such as dust, mold, pollen and bacteria. They by removing these particles help in circulating a clean air that will not affect our body. These air filters are fitted with the ventilation system that is installed at home and cleans the air as it enters the home.

All the air filters suggested for residential use seem to work on the same mechanism. Their main aim is to filter the air pollutants of indoor air through stages of filter and offer clean air for inhaling. The stages that are involved are as follows.

Pre filter: In this stage the coarse and large air contaminants are filtered and removed.

HEPA: This is otherwise known as, High efficiency particulate air. The filter designed for this helps in providing the maximum filtration efficiency. Almost all the types of filter have 99.7 % efficiency.

Permanent Electrostatic Precipitator: This is an electronic collector cell of industrial grade that is used to collect the sub-micron particles. Most of the filters use this instead of HEPA filters. This filter helps in achieving 96% efficiency in producing clean air. Since this filter can be cleaned easily they need not be replaced at all.

Air filtration helps is all maintaining the other heating and cooling systems at home. The dirty air can get clogged in the system and that would lead to more electricity to produce the heat and cool required for the home. With the help of these air filters, the systems can be saved from dust and clean air can be ensured in home.
