African American Cultural Festivals 2020

During the cultural celebration of African American, the festivals form an important and intrinsic part. You can find a large number of black people gathering in the United States of America to celebrate their rich cultural heritage at some of the different parts of the year. African Americans are a very important part of America as they account for 13 percent of America’s population. They form the backbone of America’s economy as well as you will not find any profession or sector where you cannot witness the presence of black people. They have become a prominent part of America and thus their active participation can be seen everywhere. The festivals not only celebrate the beautiful African American culture tradition but also the success they have achieved in all these years. These festivals and the happy faces participating in these narrate the stories of their struggles to be and accepted the way they are. They can be seen dancing, singing, eating and doing so many more fun-filled activities during these festivities that give them all the reason to smile at what they have achieved and make them feel proud of it.

1. National Black Arts Festival (NBAF)

The National Black Arts Festival is celebrated in the month of March and this year The Art of fashion which is an important event of the National Black Arts Festival will take place on 26th March 2020. This festival goes on for a long week when people from all over the world gather in Atlanta, Georgia to have the taste of it.

The highlights of the features remain the extraordinary cultural display and presentation of African descent. In addition to it, people get to see and enjoy dance, theater, different forms of music and films all at one platform. An educative workshop is also done based on community and arts. There is a lot to offer to the people who belong to business class and need guidance in setting up your business then this platform is definitely for you.as the occasion is used to create exposure for new businesses.

Furthermore, other events open for the public include the Outdoor Museum Exhibition. The venue for this Outdoor Exhibition is Woodruff and Freedom Parks where it will take place simultaneously. At the Symphony Hall a theatrical performance ‘Between the World and Me’ is slated to take place and entertain the audience. The concluding events include the NBAF Atlanta Jazz Festival and a visual, musical, and literary arts festival held at the Spoke ATL.

2. Dallas Harambee Festival

The Dallas Harambee Festival is another exciting festival everyone waits for as it is the festival that celebrates the victory of African’s in a foreign land. It is celebrated to witness the survival of black people in a foreign place. This festival makes them feel proud of themselves and is a salute to all the courageous people who made their identity in spite of all the hurdles that came in their way.

This festival is full of dance performances, traditional drumming of Africans, spirituality and many more. If you are a part of this festival, it will give you a chance to learn a lot about the African cultural heritage. It will give you a great opportunity to play games, stop at a food joint and enjoy its delicacies and flavors of different cuisines and spice up your outing. All these and more can be enjoyed in the month of October in Dallas, Texas.

3. National Black Book Festival

The National Black Book Festival celebrates the literature and the laureate of Africa. It is a three-day festival which starts in October. This festival is celebrated to honor and give credit to African American authors from different genres and their work that has touched the hearts of many. To celebrate the success of these gems cultural exhibitions are organized, Musical performances are presented, lots of healthy discussions take place, and networking is done.

4. AfroSolo Arts Festival

AfroSolo Arts Festival is running for a very long time now and has successfully completed 25 years. AfroSolo festival has assisted with advocating the course of blacks through African American celebrations. During the celebration and the course of the event, the African Americans are showcased through their solo performance and the sole aim of these performers is to depict the African culture and make people get aware of it. The main activities enjoyed by the people are literary arts, visual arts,  jazz concerts, and the list goes on. This event takes place for almost two to three months and commenced in the month of August.

5. American Black Film Festival (ABFF)

One of the most anticipated festivals is the American Black Film Festival which is in its 24th year and will start from June 17 to June 21 in the year 2020. The event will be taking place at Miami Beach among thousands of visitors from all parts of the world.

The American Black Film Festival celebrates the African American talents in film and television. The people will be a part of many fun-filled activities during the festival that will include dance and music concerts, film screenings and many more.

If you are part of any African American festival then your excitement cannot drop down as there will be too many activities that make you want to be a part of it any day. Some other notable festivals that can be a part of your bucket lists are Harlem Week that starts in August, Indiana Black Expo Summer Celebration in mid of July that goes on for 11 days and has almost 300,000 attendees, and Odunde Festival takes place in June and attracts over 500,000 participants yearly. It is considered to be the most populous festival of Africa Americans in the United States of America.

These African American festivals encourage young blacks to perform better and keep the history of African American culture alive. These people have always contributed to the growth of the United States of America and thrive hard to attain excellence in their respective endeavors.
