The Africa Twin Motorcycle

Honda came out with a new engine for this adventure touring motorcycle: a liquid-cooled four-stroke parallel twin with eight valves and a 270-degree crank. The engine also features a uni-cam design (one cam operates all eight valves) and 998 cc. The bore and stroke are 92.0 x 75.1 mm. You'll have plenty of power with 94 horsepower at 7,500 rpm and just under 74 pound-feet of torque.

The engine is backed by a six-speed transmission with on-road and off-road riding modes. Choose from fully manual with six speeds or a Dual Clutch Transmission automatic, also with six speeds. The DCT version has different drive modes that influence shift behavior. There’s also multi-adjustable traction control for different terrain. Choose level 1 for less traction control. This is if you need to slide. Or just want to slide. Choose 2 if you need a bit of spin, but want the bike to have more control. If you're a new rider or would rather not take the chance on dumping the bike in rough conditions, choose level 3. That gives you a ton of traction control.

The Africa Twin also features ABS brakes. While the front ABS can't be switched, the rear is switchable. Being able to turn off the rear ABS allows experienced riders to steer with the back wheel, while retaining front ABS offers an important layer of safety on gravel road and technical trails alike.
