What is a central heating system? How does it come of use to you in your home? A central heating system provides warmth to the whole/Part of interior of home or building to multiple rooms. When it is combined with other systems to control the building climate, the whole system may be at heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system. Central heating is a system of ductwork, vents, and a furnace allowing the heat to be circulated throughout entire interior of a building at once. The heat is normally generated from one location and then distributed through the home or building.

In a temperate climate, most new housing comes with central heating installed. These areas normally use gas heaters and district heating system. Electrical heating systems are less common and are good only with low-cost electricity. Central Heating consists of central air Conditioning, Electric and gas heaters and boilers. Central heating is more important during the winter season. All the components of your central heating system must be in proper working order to function during the winter times. One common problem that may occur in central heating is frost damage that can sometimes destroy boilers and pipes.

In the areas that become hot in the summer and require air conditioning, it is normally routed at the same time as central heating. They are often put in as one unit and use the same ducts and vents to distribute air to every room. Mostly, central heating systems are controlled by a thermostat located near the center of the home or building. This device can be put to a specific temperature and the unit will run until that number is reached. When it is colder outside, the longer it may take for the air inside the structure to reach a high temperature. It is always advisable for the homeowners to keep the thermostats low to reduce consumption of energy and save money. Central heating should always be installed by a professional and do not require too much maintenance.

Electric heating converts electricity directly to heat. Electric resistance heat can be provided by baseboard heaters, radiant heaters, space heaters, wall heaters and furnaces. Overheating is prevented by a safety switch – a limit switch or controller. This may shut the furnace off if the blower fails or if something is blocking the air. The heated air is then sent back through supply ducts at home. In large commercial buildings, central heating is provided through an air handler.
