About the University

Thapar University also known as Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology University was established in the year 1956. Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology University is located in sprawling green campus spreading on more than 250 acres of area in the historic city of Patiala and is famous among India’s leading Deemed Universities in the north-western region of India. Its set-up is more or less very similar to that of IITs and other well recognized technical Institutes. It is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) which is an autonomous Institution of UGC. Thapar University Admission Procedure:

The candidates are shortlisted for admission to BE/B.Tech programmes on the basis of JEE MAINS 2016 performances only. For Thapar University Admission, Aspirants need to obtain at least 20% marks (15% for SC/ST) in JEE MAINS 2016. There is no management quota and seats are given to NRIs as well.

ELIGIBILITY FOR BE/BTECH:

1.   She/he should be a student of BE/BTech programme of a recognized Institute/University and have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination from recognized board and have secured at least 70% (65% for SC/ST candidates) marks in aggregate of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry/Computer science/Biology/Biotechnology.

2.   The candidate should qualify  entrance test of Thapar University with a minimum 20% aggregate marks (15% for SC/ST candidates).

3.   The candidate must bear a good character and satisfy the prescribed University requirement.

5.   The Candidate should be born on or after October 1, 1990 (5 years relaxation in case of  SC/ST/PH candidates).

4.   The candidate needs to be citizen of India.
