Question #1: Where Did You Do Your Training & What Are Your Qualifications?

The most basic and likely first question an interviewer will ask you is where you received your training and what qualifications you have that make you eligible for the open position. There are some basic requirements to become a nurse, such as RN or RPN examination and the Jurisprudence exam. Your answer shouldn’t have information about that because it’s a given that you passed that exam to sit in front of the interviewer. The best way to answer it is to explain why you chose your specific area. Discuss the theoretical and practical components of your training and take copies of your certifications.

Question #2: Describe Your Experience

This is a question you’ll need to go into more detail about the more experience is explained on your resume. Prepare carefully by going through the resume with a fine-tooth comb. You should be able to explain any task, responsibility, or skills you’ve added to your resume. The interviewer will likely ask you follow-up questions, such as how the responsibilities you’ve had previously will help you in your work now. Highlight special achievements and use this as an opportunity to explain your commitment to nursing. Speak positively about your past employers and experiences – bad-mouthing previous employers is one of the worst mistakes people make during an interview. However, no matter how you answer, ensure your answers are relevant.

Question #3: Why Do You Believe You’re The Right Person For This Job?

This is just another version of a question you’ll get at nearly every job interview “why should we hire you?” When interviewers ask this question, they want to learn what makes you fit for the position, which is essential for nearly every type of job. Since it’s so common, you can prepare for it long before by assessing what challenges the organization has faced and providing specific examples of how you can help tackle them. Then, discuss how you would meet those challenges and contribute to finding a solution.

Question #4: Why Are You Interested In This Job?

At one point or another, an interviewer will ask this question. This is another place where prior research on the job and facility will help. Do your background research and use it in your answer. For instance:

“I want to work at this facility because of their excellent care of dementia patients….”

Question #5: What Are Your Strengths and Weaknesses As A Nursing Professional?

Make sure the strengths that you talk about are relevant to the nursing job opportunity. This will make you an attractive candidate. Some basic strengths you should mention should include the following:

· Communication skills, including how you can display empathy and form a good reputation among your patients.

· You can handle pressure and remain calm during critical times.

· Critical thinking skills that help you make sound decisions.

· You’re adaptable to changing needs.

· You can manage time effectively, delegate where it’s necessary, and can prioritize as you need.

In contrast, when it comes to weaknesses, you need to show insight into your weaknesses and address them maturely. Moreover, explain how you’re working on improving those weaknesses.

Question #6: What Are Your Future Goals?

Employers want to know that their employees are driven to succeed and achieve more. However, the best way to answer this question is by showing commitment to the job or the facility, including how the particular job will help you achieve your long-term objectives.
