The brand name Henney comes from the head international designer and founder Mr. Henney. Henney was inspired during a trip to Tournai (Modern Day Belgium) in the mid-1990s. He was attracted by the 2000-year-old history of the town, in particular Tapestry art which spans back to the 15^th and 16^th centuries. This sparked the idea of Henney bear to create products blending traditional art with modern fashion elements.

Henney’s first range honored the artistic and traditional tapestry works featured by famous British artist, William Morris. Simultaneously, to proudly celebrate Henney Bear’s origin, the United Kingdom, the first release of teddy-themed works featured the Crown Bear theme which honored the worldwide renowned Queen of England and the British Royal family.
