A Visit To The Stunning Princess Louisa National Park in Vancouver
While on a vacation in Vancouver, it’s almost mandatory to hop on a yacht rental pacific northwest and visit the gem of the Nanaimo region – The stunning Princess Louisa National Park. The perfect paradise for waterborne exploration, this park was established over fifty years ago & spans 964 hectares and boasts mountains, forests, and intricate shorelines.

As soon as you will enter the park, a sense of calm and tranquilizer will take over upon you as you breathe-in the inexplicably fresh air, and delight your eyes and ears with the sights and sounds of the sea surrounding you. It is a quiet place; all you can hear is the roar of the many waterfalls that grace the park with their presence. Waterfalls are more prevalent in the warm seasons as pack snow melts into the cascades. The scenery is beautifully dramatic, and visitors say some of the best around the world.
The mesmerizing views, slices across and suddenly disappears into the dark-green at the top. Every now and then your attention will get diverted, as another splash of white beam passes across your face. As you cruise closer you can see movement and hear the power of water.
JOURNEY OF THE WATER IN THE NATIONAL PARK
The whitewater tumbles down just like steep rapids, sometimes it disappears behind rocks and then all of a sudden one finds himself/herself closer to the water. As you sail closer to the falls, a mist comes out to greet you, and finally, you will reach a beach, just adjacent to Chatterbox Falls.
CHATTERBOX FALLS
The area that surrounds the park is known as Chatterbox falls. It is part of the Loquilts river which empties into the inlet. The falls are popular amongst the tourists from across the world and they form the part of the BC Parks marine park system. Just upstream from Chatterbox Falls lies the 2,755-foot (840 m) James Bruce Falls, which is claimed to be the tallest waterfall in North America. This spectacular park contains a number of campsites, a ranger cabin, and picnic shelter. For boaters, there is a mooring buoy, stern pins, a boat dock and a dinghy dock.
The majestic granite gorges that frame the park were formed by the glaciers some thousand years back. Mountains covered with snow emerge out of the sea and stretch to a height of about 2000 meters. It is very easy to mistake the oceans for a lake due to its placidity.
The famous Princess Louisa Inlet does move along with the tides, and even the currents are virtually non-existent except for the Malibu Rapids that create the entrance to the inlet. The natives call the inlet Suivoolot, which means sunny and warm. The water that surrounds the park from all sides, is somewhere around 1000 feet deep, and half a mile wide.
SCUBA DIVING IN THE PARK
The park is the perfect paradise for water sports enthusiasts as they can scuba dive and snorkeling around the park and of course they can also go for a swim as well.
