A homeowner gets a time of two years after the renovation has been done to apply for the HST rebate. If you cross this duration, you are no longer eligible for the rebate.

 

Is it compulsory for the homeowner to live in Canada to apply for the rebate?

No, it is not compulsory for a homeowner to reside in Canada to be eligible for HST rebate on home renovation, till the time he has a close relative living there.
