A Guide to Find the Mattress for You
by Josef Khanoyan Abt Electronics Inc.The average lifespan of a mattress,
depending on the level of care, is usually between 7 and 10 years. When it’s
time to switch out your old and worn out mattress for a brand new one, so much
time has passed that you probably forgot what sold you on the last one. Price,
mattress dimensions, and type should be included in your top priorities when deciding
how you’ll spend the next decade of slumber.
Price
Finding a mattress that is both good and
cheap sounds like an impossible task. Fortunately for you, competing mattress
manufacturers want to rally in consumers rather than push them away so the
price of mattresses over the years has decreased. Doing a complete and thorough
search of what’s available can save you hundreds, and in some cases even
thousands of dollars.
Dimensions
When trying to find your next mattress,
consider what size you think best suites your lifestyle. Are you purchasing a
full sized bed as an upgrade for your growing child or do you want a California
king sized bed to roll around in with your puppies? The most common sized bed
purchased is a queen size, which measures 60 inches wide by 80 inches long.
Other sizes include: twin (38 by 75 inches), full (53 by 75 inches), king (76
by 80 inches), and California king (72 by 84 inches).
Type
There are three different mattress choices
to choose from when figuring out what you want to take home: foam, innerspring,
and adjustable air. Foam softens when you lay on it, which makes it a better
choice for people suffering from back and joint pain. Innerspring mattresses
are the most common and popular types of mattresses. They have springs on the
inside and are layered with either a pillow-top layering or an infused gel. The
adjustable air mattress gives you control of how soft or firm you want your
mattress, with some giving you the option to inflate half at a time for you and
a partner.
