A conversation with Shizan Rahim

Being raised in a family full of Business people, I definitely had the foundational principles instilled in me at an early age! I always wanted start my own business/company at some point in my life. However my childhood dream was to be a football player.How has joining the business world affected your family life?
It’s been wonderful actually! Since I come from a family of business minded achievers, We’re always exchanging ideas with one another, contributing different skill sets and perspectives.
Where are you from?
I was born in South Africa Nelspruit and raised in Mozambique Nacala Porto my home town. I studied in South Africa for three years. Spent a year in Durban and two years in Johannesburg. After that I came back to Mozambique. I loved the time I spent in each country, as it allowed me to gain different experiences, and a new perspective on life!
Have you made any mistakes you regret in business?
Yes , I have made many mistakes but no regrets. Humans are fallible in nature. We all make mistakes, whether it be in business or life. However the mistakes and failures thought me the best lessons and what matter most is our resilience to recover from them, and our determination to persevere.
What motivates you?
I challenge myself everyday to be a better version of the person I was yesterday.
What has been your most satisfying moment in business?
When I was 13 or 14 years old, I had asked my father for a 700USD to do a business. I actually wanted to buy soccer balls from china and sell it in Mozambique. Haha,it was my first business deal and it was successful.
Where can we keep up with your daily activities?
My Instagram @shizan.rahim, even though I don’t really share a lot on my instagram page especially about my business life. I will try and share more as I believe social media is a very powerful tool.
