by Manya Verma Health care and lifestyle

Introduction

With 25% of the general population suffering from one or the other symptom, fatty liver has become the most common disease than diabetes and arthritis combined. Though, most times, this disease is mild, but if neglected it can lead to more serious health problems.

What Is It?

Fatty Liver disease is caused by too much fat build up in the liver. This extra fat can trigger changes that stop your liver from working well and since liver filters toxins from the blood, this condition can be very harmful:

There are two basic types of Fatty Liver Disease:

·       nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and

·       alcoholic fatty liver disease, also called alcoholic steatohepatitis.

Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease

As per the liver specialist in Patna, it is the most common type of fatty liver disease in India and comparatively less harmful. However, in some severe cases called nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) the liver gets swollen, which can lead to scars on the liver that don't heal and leads to greater risk of liver cancer and heart attack. Experts at top center for liver cancer think NASH is about to become the leading reason for liver transplants.
