Both the operating systems didn’t brought much change to the operating systems. Google having the material design. It is as usual colorful, chunky whereas the iOS is quite refined and elegant. Any way it is up to the viewer which is one is beautiful.

When it comes to customization Android is the king. Using iOS you could put widgets in Notification centre but in order to set a calendar in home screen, it is still Android needed. If you install an alternative launcher it will deliver a mobile operating system like stk Android. It is not possible through the iOS. So these things prove that when it comes to customization, Android is the king.

Security is an important thing according to an operating system. An iOS handles confidential user data and information. When it comes to privacy. iOS covers the Android. In iOS the user will have the clear idea regarding where the data goes and stores also how it's being used.
Updates
Compared to Android it is easy to get apple updates. Unless you are using a Nexus device, it is hard to get an Android updates. iOS updates are available even in older devices. In the case of Android in order to get faster updates the users need to depend Nexus phones.
Compatibility
Using an iPhone or iPad with a hardware which is not made by apple is quite difficult and frustrating. Whereas Android is good in third party compatibility. The apps of Android is quite adaptable to any operating systems whereas the iOS is not like that.
