During a recent visit to Syracuse, I had the opportunity to see the city firsthand, and experience all that it had to offer.

Syracuse was one of the biggest cities in the ancient world. It all began in 734 BC, when Corinthian colonists reached the shores of the island of Ortygia. It has been quite a whilenow, but Ortygia, across the mainland city, still remains the city's most stunning space.

If you happen to find yourself in Syracuse, make sure you delve a few kilometres north to the city, into its Greek past; to when the city was one of the most greatest in the ancient world.
