A Brief Guide On Wastewater Treatment

by Eco Septic manufacture and supplier of reliable and environme

Without water we can’t survive. We drink it, flush it and wash a number of things with it making it one of our greatest natural resources. But sometimes we take it for granted because humans tend to devalue things which they are getting for free or without efforts. We take shower and water our yards, we ever think of what happens to the water we use it? Does wastewater go directly to waste? In this article, you will learn something about wastewater treatment and water treatment plant.

Wastewater treatment is a means of processing water from domestic and industrial use to make it safe before releasing it into the ecosystem. From our drainpipes, it is transported through sewage system to the Water Treatment Plant where it undergoes a number of processes before it is disposed or recycled. In a combined system, it may also include storm water runoff too. A different system is required because storm runoff may contain large materials which can damage the pipes making the process difficult. After the water arrives at the water treatment plant it undergoes a three-part process known as the primary, secondary and tertiary treatment.

The primary phase is where the water is left to sit in tanks so that the contents can settle, similar to soup when it is left to get cool. The solid matter sinks to the bottom and the fat particles arise. These materials are then removed and the water that is left moves on to the next phase of treatment. All this is a part of Wastewater Management. Some of the solid waste, which is now called as sludge is either chemically treated for disposal or it can be furthered treated in to fertilizer. This also saves on disposal or holding space in Water Treatment Plants.

The second stage of treatment involves releasing micro-organisms into the remaining water to eat any particles that may have dissolved or were too small in size to be removed in the primary treatment. The micro-organisms are then removed and the water is moved for the final treatment.

The final or tertiary treatment involves treating the water chemically to remove any excess nutrients or other minerals and chemicals which may be harmful for the environment. It can then be safely reintroduced into the ecosystem or used for irrigation and many other purposes.

With Wastewater Management, we reduce the exploitation of natural resources. Many countries are now trying to find advanced technologies to further treat water and make it even better in quality. This kind of treatment in Water Treatment Plant has helped a number of countries like Australia that are known for water scarcity.

As better ways of treating wastewater are invented, conservation of other resources such as energy and land can also occur. It is hoped that through advancement of technology and innovation, more effective and efficient means of Wastewater Treatment can be found to help conserve water. We only have one earth and while you keep using the natural resources, don’t forget to do your part in conservation.
