A 5-Step Action Plan for Internet Marketing

by Donald Parker Consultant

Are you looking for a remarkable progress in sales this year done through an effective and well-organized marketing campaign?

A thoroughly developed and highly organized marketing campaign is not difficult to coordinate; it does not require a great deal of money either. Such plan will generate traffic and propel sales much faster than Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Social Media Marketing. Only it needs a bit of research on your part and in-depth knowledge of the target market.

Implementing a well drafted five step internet marketing plan can help you get soaring sales.

Here are the five steps described in detail:-

Defining the customer

Defining your customer is very crucial; it is very much like defining your products or giving your business a name. It is imperative that you create a marketing plan which is included in your Unique Selling Proposition, advertising and promotions planning.

Answering the below mentioned questions will help you to define your customer.

  • Who can be your ideal customer?
  • Is my ideal customer male or female?
  • What is the level of education of my customer?
  • Does my customer work in office or work at home?
  • What is the job profile of my customer – an executive, manager, and entrepreneur or stay-at-home parent?
  • What is the total household income of my customer?
  • How can my customer utilize my product or service?
  • What amount of time does my ideal customer spend on the internet?

By the time you have written all the answers, you would have understood where to start looking to place your message.

Target choosing

Where are you going to post the ads? Posting them on several sites and venues which are generally visited by your customers can be an effective marketing campaign. This will increase your brand’s visibility in a great manner.

Now when you are deciding upon a website, social media network or a newsletter for placing your ad, you should consider some factors like traffic, external linking, search engine placement and the quality of the ads which are currently being run on them.

Think about the factors like:

  • Do you find your competitors are there already?
  • Do you take advertising as a complimentary nature of your business?
  • Do the ads relate to your business and to the traffic of the site?

Budget

You can create a budget for your online marketing plan, only when you have a rough or planned idea of the costs involved. After you have figured out your targets, you can better estimate the costs.

If you have opted for pay-per-click advertising, you should then check in daily for first few weeks and monitor the results to ensure that you are paying for better.

Ad content creation

For effective online marketing, you should focus only on one or two things. You must be having a range of products, but choose one or two items which are really good sellers and have good potential to be targeted for your marketing campaign.

Have you seen the most successful ads? Almost all of them use words that relate to the customers. Prefer ‘You’, ‘Yours’ in place of ‘Me’, ‘Mine’, ‘Our’ or ‘We’.

Regularly track and monitor your ads

Tracking your ads and knowing how the campaign is running is important. By regularly tracking and monitoring them, you can learn a lot about your ads and also improve them for better results.

By following the above mentioned five steps, you can draw a cost effective online marketing campaign that will deliver good ROI.
