9 Essential Pool Cleaning Supplies
Having a
swimming pool proffers many benefits to a homeowner. The biggest benefit is to
the house owner and his household who will have a priceless place for their
leisure time’s enjoyment. A pool will also significantly add value to a house
and give the compound a great appearance. Having a pool is not enough; it has
to be clean at all times for maximum and healthy enjoyment. To keep it in a
healthy state, one will need the following supplies as basics:

- Tele Poles: Some people will refer to this tool as a
cleaning pole for the swimming pool. It is a handy basic tool and comes in
various lengths. Naturally, your choice of length will depend on the size
of your pool. They mostly come with two holes where various tools can be
attached. Most tele poles are made from aluminum although fiberglass is
preferred for durability.
- Vacuum Heads: This is a prime cleaning tool that is
attached to a tele pole. The fact that one needs to vacuum regularly means
that a good vacuum head is needed. For vinyl lined swimming pools, one will
need Vacuum Head that has fine brushes while pools having concrete
surfaces will require Vacuum Heads that come with brushes.
- Vacuum hose: This tool’s work is to suck in the dirt
and debris that falls into the pool or is attached to the walls. A vacuum line
is prepared and attached to the vacuum hose that has already been filled
with water.
- The leaf trap: The biggest threat to a filter pump is
trash and leaves in the pool. To prevent this, another of the basic swimming pool supplies in the form of a good leaf trap is needed.
It's attached to the end of the vacuum hose for collection of pebbles. It
is extremely handy after a thunderstorm which will deposit leaves and
other trash in the pool.
- Leaf baggers: This bag is used together with a garden
hose which pushes leaves into it by directing a strong jet at the leaves
on the pool. It will work best for larger pools or when there are so many
leaves in the pool.
- The pool brush: This is primarily used to scrape off
algae and any other material, organic or inorganic that may be on the
surface forming a film. Pools that look like they have a greenish film on
their surfaces need a good brushing with a pool brush. Vinyl pools need a
plastic pool brush while concrete pools need a stainless steel pool brush.
- Tile Brush: Tile brushes are used to clean stains
and grime that pools acquire over time. It is smaller than the pool brush
and works well on tiled pools. It is not very effective on concrete pools
which will need stronger brushes.
- Skimmer net: This tool presents a quick method of
collecting leaves and debris floating on the surfaces of pools. It is
extremely useful in very large pools and especially so in public swimming
pools. It is attached to a tele pole. It saves the pool cleaner's time and
effort because if such trash is not collected soon enough, it could drop
to the bottom of the pool which presents another cleaning problem
altogether.
- Pumice stone: It is a low cost but highly effective and durable substance to clean out localized cement and paint stains without damaging the underlying surface. It can also be attached to a tele pole.
