9 Basic Tips on How to Keep Your Kitchen Clean and Ordered

by Ethan Wilkins Marketing Manager

Many a housewife like to cook and experiment with new recipes and techniques. However easier or more complicated, traditional or exotic they are, you might not be able to enjoy the cooking experience if your kitchen is not well organised or well-cleaned. Let's show you some practical tips on how to organise your cooking space, order your cupboards easier and do your cleaning chores nice and easy, so that you will save time and worries when looking for different products.

Start from scratch

As a beginning, the best way to get in order all kitchen shelves and cupboards is to empty them completely. Clear out all products, jars, spices, cutlery and so on.

Meticulously clean the cupboards and, most importantly, dry them afterwords, before you put back their contents.

Sort Out

Keep the tea, the herbs, the flour and the spices in separate boxes, glass or ceramic jars. That way you will preserve their qualities for a longer period of time. That is especially valid for tea, as you should take it out of the carton boxes, in which it can most often be found. Their walls can easily let the flavour pass and it will change the taste and smell of all other seasoning inside the cupboard.

Check Periodically

There shouldn't be any moisture inside the cupboards. Check them out occasionally for mould and moss and clean it immediately, if you find any.

Write Down

It's good to keep a permanent marker around. You can use it to note when you open a specific jar with jam or practically, any other food. That will save you some serious cleaning up later.

Write Down Vol. 2

Apart from labelling your jars, packages and boxes, you can try to keep around in your kitchen a piece of paper or a notebook with a pen, so that you can write down at the very moment what you need to buy and cook in your trustworthy oven. So, next time you visit the supermarket, you will be more than ready. The lists with the necessary ingredients might seem ridiculous or pointless to you, but in fact, they can do a lot of help.

Sponge or Paper?

It's a well-known fact, that sponges hold the moisture and are a major source of microbes and bacteria in the kitchen. Use them strictly for washing the cutlery, change them periodically and disinfect them (e.g. in the microwave oven), if you want to save them for longer. Meanwhile buy a decent amount of kitchen paper towel and soak and clean the surfaces with it. It's much more hygienic and even easier to use.

Never leave today's work for tomorrow

Always place the item you used back at the same place where you took it and do not make a mess in the cupboards and the shelves, just because you are in a hurry and you think you will get it in order later. You won't. That way you will only create extra unnecessary chaos.

Clean your appliances

One of the main reasons for unpleasant smells after or during cooking is the clustered dirt and grime in the stove's cavity or on top of the hob burners. In case you haven't noticed, those nasty food leftovers and burnt-on grease can also be the reason for an increased heating time and a rise in your electricity bills. That's several of the main reasons why your cooker should be maintained regularly and deeply-cleaned at least once a month. Expert oven cleaning London companies recommend that you actually dismantle the appliance's removable parts, in order to fully manage to get rid of the grimy particles.

Keep it fresh

Make sure to have a few flower pots and fresh fruits or veggies in the kitchen. They are actually a nice addition to the interior and make it pleasing to the eye.
