Approx. 50% TR applications Are Rejected in 2024 Due To Lack Of Proof of Ties To Home Country


In 2024, Canada rejected approximately 2.36 million temporary resident applications, across visitor visas, study permits, and work permits, an overall refusal rate of about 50%, up sharply from 35% in 2023.

Following is the details stats for 2024:

  • Applications received : ~4.72 million 

  • Applications Refused : 2,359,157 

  • Applications Approved : Estimated ~2.36 million



Express Entry Profile Rejection

Rejection of express entry profiles often arise due to invalid ECA reports, inconsistent or incorrect documentation, insufficient proof of funds, or selecting an incorrect NOC code. 

Any of these errors can lead to profile rejection even before CRS ranking, as per IRCC guidelines.

  • Total Applications: Not publicly released

  • Total ITA Issued:  98,803 Invitations to Apply (ITAs)

  • Total Draws: 52  Draws 

  • Active Express Entry profiles in Pool: 221,310


Canada Study Permit Approvals Drop to 40% in 2024


Canada study permit refusals often stem from gaps in LOA (Letter of Acceptance), mismatched or unverified WES/ECA educational credential reports, weak or vague SOP (Statement of Purpose), or insufficient proof of funds. 

Missing any of these core elements—or failing to convincingly explain your temporary intent—can lead to automatic rejection.

  • New study permits issued: 267,890 approvals

  • Approval rate 2023 to 2024 : 60% to 40%

  • Rejection Date in 2024 : 52%
