Safety experts recommend keeping children rear-facing until at least the age of two, or longer if the seat allows for it by weight and height.

  • Myth 2- Second-hand seats are just as safe
    Fact- Using a second-hand car seat may seem like a budget-friendly solution, but it comes with risks. A used seat might have damages that are not visible at first or there can be missing parts. It could also be past its expiry date or not meet current safety standards. It is recommended  to use a new car seat, and avoid using one that has been in an accident.

  • Myth 3- Thick clothing keeps babies safer
    Fact- It may feel natural to bundle a baby in warm clothing before strapping them in, but bulky jackets or layers can prevent the harness from fitting snugly. This reduces its ability to protect during an impact. It is safer to dress babies in thinner layers and use a blanket over the harness if extra warmth is needed.

  • Myth 4- A loose harness is more comfortable
    Fact- People often think that a looser harness would be more comfortable for a baby, it actually increases the risk of injury. The harness needs to be firm, with the straps lying flat against the chest and no slack.
