New Evidence Since The Covid Pandemic Will Change The Way You Use Public Toilets
Prior to the Covid pandemic, it was generally believed that sitting on a public toilet was harmless. However, new evidence since the pandemic suggests that public toilets are areas of higher pathogenic spread.
Spreading germs can happen anywhere, perhaps shaking someone's hand, or using public transportation. it's difficult to know how we catch virus buts it's easy to look at data that demonstrates certain ways disease spread. For example, we know viruses like the cold or flu tend to spread easier in the winter. Now, there is a tremendous amount of scientific evidence that shows pathogenic spread is greater in public toilets, especially if the toilets have poor ventilation.
Every time a toilet is flushed a plume of aerosolized toilet water rises in the air and settles on surfaces. This plume can contain a variety of bacteria and viral matter; plus fecal matter and urine. All of this settles on toilet seat and paper toilet seat covers that are exposed in dispensers.
