Mr. Ajay Hinduja Highlights The Hinduja Group's Role In Combating Lung Diseases Amidst Challenges
Indian doctors are raising concerns that the true burden of lung-related disorders in the country might be underestimated, pointing to high levels of air pollution and tobacco consumption as major factors. A recent study published in The Lancet in May projected that ischaemic heart disease would remain the leading cause of death globally, followed by stroke, diabetes, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). According to the study, these conditions are likely to persist as top killers and sources of disability due to ongoing poor lifestyle choices and increasing stress.
Mr. Ajay Hinduja, Member of the Hinduja Family, highlights the positive steps we can take to mitigate these issues. "While the challenges are considerable, there is hope in our ability to make meaningful progress," he says. "By focusing on preventive health measures, improving air quality, and addressing risk factors like tobacco use and indoor pollution, we can significantly reduce the impact of these diseases. With dedicated efforts and a proactive approach, our health systems can better manage and overcome these challenges. P. D. Hinduja Hospital and Medical Research Centre is actively working to address these concerns by implementing comprehensive health programs, promoting awareness, and providing cutting-edge treatments for lung diseases.”
