Fireplaces are one of the new trends in the field of interior decoration in today’s era. The nature of the fireplace makes it more of an attractive item in terms of decoration more than in terms of utility that it gives. Like all other products, fireplaces too, cannot go on without proper maintenance. For this reason, fireplace maintenance tools are especially designed and these tools have been designed in a way to provide beauty as well as utility.

Different materials are used for the production of the tools that help you maintain your fireplace. These materials normally consist of different kinds of metals, such as iron, brass and bronze. We will discuss the tools in detail one by one.

1.    Poker

The thing that you want the most for your fireplace is something that helps you push the coal into the fire, and this “something” is known as poker. It has an insulated handle on one end and pointed iron pieces at the other end. The tool is usually polished nicely and made of wrought iron and sometimes of brass.

2.    Shovel

This is a rather simple tool, one which is also very necessary for the maintenance of the fire place. It works just like a dust pan, but it is used for collecting the ash that is accumulated in the fireplace.

3.    Tongs

One of the very important tools used for the maintenance of the fireplaces is the tong. It is mostly used to set logs and grab anything that fell into the fireplace by mistake. The tong has a handle on one end and a claw that is used to grab an objection the other end. Sometimes, they are made of bronze and wrought iron. They come in two types; one is shaped like a scissor while the other one is shaped like a claw.

4.    Brush

The brush works well with the shovel. The brush helps you push ash or waste on the shovel. It is very safe to use and aimed at the provision of utility. It also has a wooden handle.

5.    Broom

Broom and brush are quite similar in function. The broom is also used to clean the ash and the waste that is accumulated in the fireplace overtime. The broom is not as small as a brush; in fact it has a long handle and helps you reach places where the brush doesn’t go.

6.    Stand

To store the fireplace tools, you need to have a stand. It has a rectangular and sometimes a circular base and help you arrange all the tools in a proper and neat manner. It is sometimes made of brass or stainless steel.

7.    Screen

Screen has two main functions, one is to decorate the fireplace further and the other is to stop sparks and ashes. It is made of iron, steel and brass.
