7 Hidden Secrets to Score Well at IELTS Exam

IELTS is one of the most popular exams that allow non-English speakers to study in an English speaking country. The test has a band score ranging from 1 to 9. Those who score above 6 can apply for admission in multiple foreign universities. The test aims to evaluate one’s skills in writing, speaking, listening, and reading English. So, you will have to be an all-rounder. Getting the band score above six is not so difficult if you are focused and well-prepared. 

 

Preparation Since Your School Age


When you have made your mind to study abroad, you will have to participate in the IELTS or relevant exam. For which, you need proficiency in English. If your medium of study in English, it will be an added advantage. During your school age, you can start your preparation. Focus on English literature primarily. Practice grammar, listen to podcasts and read books. So, the early you start preparation, the better chance you can get.

IELTS test involves writing work to check how you can play with new words and express your thoughts without making mistakes. For this, all you can do is to read various topics and write on them in your own words. Keep the sentences concise and focused on the topic. Your thoughts should be clearly expressed through writing. When you read a lot on various topics, ideas can come quickly. 

 

Watch BBC News & Foreign Accent Drama or Movies


Your overall score should be excellent. Listening is one of the most important parts of the exam. Secure an hour or two to watch BBC news or any Hollywood movies. Try to pay attention to the words and accent of them to make your understanding clear about the language. The practice will dramatically improve your listening ability. 

 

Make a Group of Friends to Improve Speaking


Non-English speakers often find difficult to get an environment where people are speaking in English. In this situation, you can make a group of friends who are preparing for the same. Take a topic and create a debate kind of environment on the topic. Make sure everyone in the group knows about the topic and are prepared for it to debate.
