by Odimax Ltd Social Media Monitoring Software

Social media is a very powerful marketing tool. So, you should be very careful while using it. If it is used wrongly, it will create a negative impact on your business. Nowadays, almost all companies are using different social media platforms to create brand awareness among its target audience. If you too are using it, here are a few don’ts for you. Make sure you don’t make these mistakes while doing social media marketing campaigns for your business.

Using too many hash tags in a post: You should never use too many hash tags(#) in a post. This is the biggest mistake that people make. Hash tags are usually used for search ability, conversation and promotion. So, it should be limited to 1-2 per post. If you use more than two hash tags per post or simply use too many, people and your followers will think that you are actually spamming them. Your engagement level is even bound to drop with excessive use of # tags.

Tweeting all through the day: There are many businesses that tweet throughout the day thinking that more they tweet more they will be able to engage their audience. But truly speaking, this is of no use actually. In fact, if you keep on doing this, your followers will start to unfollow you. You should always keep the tweet level with the expectations of your users. Tweeting more than 3-4 times a day will prove to be harmful for the businesses.

Posting the same message in all the social media channels: Firstly, you need to make sure that you do not use all the social media sites that are available. Only make use of those that can reap maximum benefits for your business. After you pick up the sites that you think will be beneficial for your business, make sure you do not spread the message using the same approach. Different social media platforms have different customs, language and audience. So, you should make sure that the message that’s posted is customized for each and every site. As a business, you need to know how to make the message more engaging for each platform.

Using all 140 characters while Tweeting: You should never use all the 140 characters while you tweet. Keep at least 20 characters unused if you want others to retweet you. If you use the full 140 characters, then people wanting to retweet you will be forced to delete some of your message. Tweets which are under 100 characters have a more engagement rate.

Not monitoring what others are saying about you: You should always keep a track of what people are saying about you in social media. To do this, you need to use a social media monitoring software. Most of the businesses do not keep a track of what people are saying about them. They just act the way they feel like. However, if you want to drive engagement, you need to act keeping in mind what others are saying about you.
