5 Different Types of Fabrics You Can Use for an Interior Decoration

You would have always noticed that the designers often play with different varieties of fabrics to create the desired and elegant look for an interior décor and design. We use fabrics to provide a splash of color or texture to the room.

When it comes to fabric, there are many selections to choose from. But it may be hard to figure out which one is best for your room. We use fabric for covering windows and pillows, furniture and so on. When deciding on the fabric type for décor, picking the right material according to the interior design becomes a key aspect which must be done properly and efficiently. There are different types of decorative fabrics available in the market, from which you can choose. And some of the common ones include:

1. Silk
Silk provides a rich element to any room when we use it for window and pillow covering and even as a furniture covering. It has a soft and shiny texture and the fabric themselves are actually prism-like. Silk fabric reflects light at various angles.

2. Rayon
Rayon is a semi-synthetic fabric and it is a great alternative to silk. Another name of rayon fabric is art silk. Rayon silk has a shiny texture and it is a great choice for many people that are looking for something that is durable than silk is. 

3. Polyester
We usually have seen polyester in drapes and bed sheet, and many people don’t like to use polyester to decorate the room. Polyester mainly blends with a variety of other fabrics. Polyester is a synthetic fiber and it can be uses in a variety of ways and can be found in a large number of textures. You can use the polyester blend in sitting areas because it is resistant to wrinkles. 

4. Cotton
Cotton is a natural fiber and it is breathable and comfortable that makes it an excellent fabric to work with. You can find cotton in a lot of different blends and fabric. Cotton also has wonderful traits of being resistant fading and also against wear and tear. 

5. Nylon
Nylon is a resilient fabric, and has a shiny texture and it is usually resistant to stains. The benefit of nylon fabric is that it holds the color extremely well. Nylon is a strong fabric and it tends to only be used in a blend. The uses for nylon and nylon blends are practically endless when it comes to our home décor.

You must always remember about fabric types when you need to pick a fabric that you are comfortable with and which also fits your lifestyle. If you are in doubt about a fabric, then simply look for an alternative in a fabric blend. And as far as costing is concerned, you can always buy discount fabric from quality suppliers.
