5 Different Traditional Styles of Wearing a Saree

Undoubtedly saree is a blend of sensuality and grace. The six yards has the power to dazzle up any woman in sheer elegance. Saree shows the beauty of the woman in such a charming way that it is the most celebrated attire of all times. One can bring ample of creativity in this six yards by draping it in unique styles. Every state in India has its own charming style of draping the saree, let us take cue from the traditional style and bring a reviving look to your saree.

Traditional/Nivi Style:

Originating from Andhra, this style is most preferred style of draping- Nivi style. Tuck your saree at the waist from right to left and wrap around your lower body. Take the pallu and form short pleats and pin over your shoulder and the remaining saree, pleat it 7-8 times and tuck in your waist. In this style, saree is intact with no fear of falling off from the shoulder. Best Indian saree will give a perfect look for this style.


Bengali Style:


This is an inspirational style of draping. Box pleat your saree and pleat the pallu on your left shoulder and length it to the ground. Pull the last pleat and tuck it on your right hip. Tie an ornate key ring and take the right corner end of your pallu and bring it to the front and flip on your right shoulder. Brocade, silk saree are perfect for this style. Gujarati Style:

Thanks to daily soaps which made this style popular. It is distinct from Nivi style. In this style the saree is brought from back and the pallu is pleated on the right side of the shoulder and tucked to the left waist. Maharashtrian Style:

Unlike the normal six yards, this style require nine yards and require no inskirt. The draping of this saree is similar to dhoti. The pallu is pleated as the usual saree is, the extra yards of saree is pleated and drawn between the legs and tucked at back. This style is an influence of dhoti saree. Paithani saree portray this style elegantly.

 

Tamilian Saree:

This is another nine yard style saree, without petticoat inside. You can wear shorts and then drape your saree.

Take the non-pallu end of the sari and make small pleats. Take the pleats to the left side of the back at waist. Spin the sari around your body and bring it to the left and make a knot there. Bring the rest of the saree to the backside from under your legs, tuck the saree at the back at the waist. Wrap one complete round from waist to down and get the pallu on the right shoulder. Take the loose end and wrap it around the waist on the right. Silk sarees are best for this style saree. You can also check for crepe saree online and try this style.
