4 Things you should do Before a Property Inspection

by Askan Architect Architect
Planning to sell your house and wondering whether your property will pass the inspection test successfully? Home inspection is essential prior to buying the property and is something you cannot avoid. However, as a homeowner you can take certain steps to make sure that your house is prepared for the inspection and limit the chances of any inconsistencies and discrepancies. With a proactive approach you can make the process seamless and ensure that you do not lose the deal. Here are some steps that you can take prior to the inspection process:

Clean the area to be inspected: Remove all the clutter and tidy up the space before the home inspectors visit your place. A home that is clean and clutter-free will create a favorable situation for the inspectors. Proper cleaning of the area will make it easier for the professionals to inspect the area without any interference. Don’t forget to include the odd places like the area below the sinks and all other spaces that the inspector needs to examine. Make sure they have easy access to electric panels and the heating and cooling systems in your home. You have to take care that no article or object blocks the access to these areas.

Empty your appliances: Remember to empty your appliances like washing machine, dishwasher, oven and dryer that might need to be switched on during the inspection. By removing any debris or leftovers in the appliances you will assure a smooth and seamless flow of the inspection process and also shows a polite gesture. Providing access to the attic is also important. Arrange a ladder for them and remove anything that might be blocking the entrance.

Inform the inspectors about existing problems: If you are facing difficulty with anything at your home bring it to the notice of the Building Inspector Adelaide immediately. For example, if there are issues with dripping water, problems in plumbing, or issues with the central heating system discuss them with the inspector and get them fixed rather than surprising your buyers with undisclosed flaws.

Maintain a written record: Whenever you get any repairs done make sure you maintain a documentation of those to give an easy access to the inspectors on what work has already been done. This documentation will also include insurance claims from any damage in the past. Even if the inspection claims that there are no prevalent issues with the system try to keep it in a written record.
