4 Non-Surgical Hair Treatment Options That Could Actually Work For Thinning Hair

by Anju S. Marketing expert & Business analyst

If you were to conduct a survey amongst the general public about hair loss and how many people suffer from it, there is a chance that a majority would say they are facing the problem. Hair loss is actually a lot more common than most people would think and affects a much larger population than what could be imagined. However, in the recent past, there has been a lot of conversation in terms of treatments and therapies that can help reduce hair loss or help treat hair thinning. Before you even start to consider a hair transplant, there are actually several other options that can be tried out.

With incredible advancements in the field of medicine, there are new processes and therapy procedures that are emerging on the scene, every other day. However, there are a few that have been tried and tested and these have gained a lot more popularity in terms of being effective for treating thinning hair.

1. Medications – Although there are plenty of nutritional supplements that you can add to your regular diet, there are some actual medications that have shown highly promising results. There are some medicines that can be applied topically, and some that need to be ingested – either way, it would make sense to talk to an expert before starting off either. While there are those who feel that the common side effects of Minoxidil are easy enough to ignore, given the results it tends to offer, there are those who prefer Finasteride. The former is normally offered in a topical solution and can often be purchased over the counter, Finasteride will require a proper prescription because this comes in a tablet form. These are both good options to be tried out, should you have started noticing your hair thinning.

2. PRP–Platelet-rich plasma therapy has been around for much longer than most people would realize, but in its nascent days, it was used mostly in sports treatment. Over time, the uses of prp therapy were moved into the field of hair restoration and overall, it has shown incredible  results. The process is reasonably simple – blood is extracted from  your body and then placed in a centrifuge. The centrifugal force  separates the components of the blood and the plasma that is rich in platelets. This is considered a super serum and when it is  injected back into the scalp, it invigorates the cells within  the scalp and encourages natural hair growth. In recent  years, PRP has gained immense popularity and is being preferred for thinning hair, all over the world.

3. Low-light laser therapy – This is yet another non-invasive method that has gained immense popularity in the past few years, mainly because of its efficacy. Your hair will look a lot more voluminous when hair from the anagen phase is stimulated into moving into the telogen phase. More importantly, the duration of the anagen phase also needs to be prolonged and these are all factors that can be achieved with the use of a laser. Not only can low-light laser therapy increase hair growth rates naturally, but it can also reduce the chances of hair moving into the catagen phase prematurely. These days, you need not even go to a clinic, because there are laser combs and helmets that can be used easily at home.

 4. Mesotherapy–And then there is mesotherapy, which on paper might seem similar to PRP, but is actually not. With the use of a derma roller or a thin syringe, several micro-holes are created all over the scalp. These tiny holes become the recipient sites for nutrients that are carefully chosen to provide much-needed stimulation for the hair. Not only does the process of creating the holes on the scalp reinvigorate the body’s healing system, but it is also able to speed up the growth of existing hair. Once the procedure  starts to take hold, you should be able to see the thinning  reduction and new hair growth.

While these four procedures have become popular options to handle hair thinning, there are other factors that you need to take into consideration and your diet will be one of them. Hair fall often stems from a lack of nutrients and when your body does not have them in sufficient amounts, it could lead to hair loss, which often starts to present itself as thinning. So you see, a transplant might seem like a really good option, but you might want to ensure that you try simpler and less invasive options first, because all you know,  they might handle your hair problems!
