3 Ways To Contribute To Sustainable Development Goals

by Jamie Dawson Marketing Manager
The United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) provide a framework for companies across Australia and the world to develop concrete environmentally-focused business practices and models.

Here's how infrastructure companies can get on board with the UN's Sustainable Development Goals:

1. Lobby for action

It is no surprise that big companies and enterprises have a strong influence on government policies, politicians and political processes. This influence can be used to lobby for change in business practices, where it becomes government-mandated to abide by certain pro-environment regulations.

2. Invest in sustainable innovations

This is another way to contribute to the global responsibility of practising sustainability. Organizations like investment management firms, banks and insurance companies can choose to invest their financial resources into clean energy projects.

3. Partner with SDG-compliant companies

Another way to drive change is to devise and implement SDG compliant procurement criteria. Organizations from the public and private sectors both can exercise policies to partner with only those vendors who are actively involved in furthering the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.

Final Thoughts

Sustainable energy companies are actively working towards and  contributing towards a cleaner and greener future. The objective is to provide guidance to people, communities, companies and governments alike, to help further human development and build a sustainable planet for our current and future generations. It is imperative that large organizations abide by these goals and ensure business practices are focused more on environmental safety over profit.
