3 Steps! Self-Drilling Rock Bolt System Reinforce A Retaining Wall !
by Simone S. sinorockcoIn many constructions, we need to build
a retaining wall to support the rock or soil, to prevent the slide of the
slopes or other constructions. The retaining wall would become very weak after
some time, and we must reinforce it to ensure it won't collapse.
In general, we can take several measures to reinforce a retaining wall, such as shotcrete/sprayed concrete, hollow bar support. The most convenient material to do this is the self-drilling rock bolt system.
Construction Process
- Preparation before construction: Check whether
the functions of the drilling rig are normal, whether the drill bit and
the rod body are damaged, whether the rod body is unblocked, etc. After
ensuring that there is no problem, screw the hollow bolt body to be used
with the drill bit;
- Drilling and grouting: The hollow bolt body and
the grouting pipe are connected to the drilling rig through a rotary
grouting adapter, and grouting is performed during the drilling process to
achieve the simultaneous completion of drilling and grouting;
- Install the plate and nut to the construction
surface to ensure the anchoring effect.
Array Requirement
- The vertical spacing of the upper and lower rows
of self-drilling rock bolt should not be less than 2.5m, and the
horizontal spacing should not be less than 2m;
- When the bolt spacing is less than the above
provisions or the stability of the rock and soil layer in the anchoring
section is poor, the bolts should be arranged in alternate lengths;
- The thickness of the overlying soil layer of the
first row of bolts should not be less than 4m, and the thickness of the
overlying rock layer should not be less than 2m;
- The position of the first anchor point can be set
at 1.5-2m below the retaining top;
- The inclination angle of the rock bolt should be
10°~35°;
- The arrangement of anchor rods shall be as
vertical as possible to the direction of the slope, and shall intersect
with the structural plane at a large inclination angle;
- If the pillars are in the soil layer, the rock
bolt should be set near the bottom of the pillars.
Advantages
- It combines drilling, grouting, and anchoring
together, more effectively.
- There are many types of drill bits. According to
the conditions, we can use the most targeted one.
- The hollow bar can be extended by the coupling or
cut for a narrow space.
- Anti-corrosion. 4 types of anti-corrosion rock bolts are available, stainless steel, epoxy coating, hot-dip galvanizing, and duplex coating.
As we can see, three steps are enough to
reinforce a retaining wall with the self-drilling rock bolt system. It would
promote the efficiency of the process, decrease the cost of the whole
construction.
