3 hurdles to cross before you receive an HR truck license

While people think that driving a car and driving a truck is the same thing, what people forget is that they both are two different kinds of vehicle. The former is a lightweight vehicle whereas the truck isn’t. Even if you know how to handle and drive a car, it isn’t necessary that you would know of the truck too.

To ensure that you learn truck driving, especially if it is a profession that you intend to take up, there is the need to enrol yourself in a truck driving school. They are the ones who can help you with the best of results while making you responsible truck drivers on the road.

A truck is large and you are responsible for controlling all of it yourself while there are multiple other vehicles on the road. Once you complete your course on truck driving from a reputed school that helps out with truck driving courses, you would receive the HR license that officially allows you to handle a truck.

Before you obtain one for yourself, here are the few things that need handling first and only then can you receive a truck driving license.

Passing the knowledge test

Before you make the final application for an HR licence, it is important on your part to pass the knowledge test. Here, knowledge test means the information that you know about what happens in a road and how would you tackle problems when it comes your way. Topics as that of defensive driving, traffic rules, load restraints, intersection rules, speed limits, usage of security seat belts, pedestrians, traffic lights and traffic signs are brought up when it comes to the knowledge test faced by those wanting an HR license.

Undergoing the eye test

When you are driving, good eyesight is mandatory. You are responsible for taking along the vehicle and bad eyesight and lead to accidents. When you opt for an HR truck licence, you need to undergo the eyesight test. Visiting optometrists and bringing along a report that shows the condition of your eyesight is something mandatory. If everything is fine, you get to go to the next step of application. If not, you need to opt for corrective lens wearing which can help you correct the problems you have. In case of older drivers opting for the license, they need to go through the screen again. Their eyes would be tested and that any issues with farsightedness or even pain go away during such times.

Owning a logbook from RMS (RTA)

When you own a log boo from RMS (RTA), you need to put in details of your on-road driving experience both supervised and all by yourself. A minimum of 120 hours is to be recorded where 20 hours of night driving should be on record in the logbook. All of these should be maintained well.

Only when these three steps are taken care of and crossed can a person receive an HR truck license after passing the driving test.
