On the powertrain front, there are three four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engines and one four-cylinder turbo diesel. All are paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, which channels drive to the front wheels of the two low-power petrols and to all four wheels of the diesel and high-power petrol.
The entry 1.4 TFSI’s 1.4-litre engine produces 110kW of power between 5000-6000rpm and 250Nm of torque from 1500-3500rpm. It claims to sprint from 0-100km/h in 8.5 seconds, and uses 4.9-5.6 litres per 100 kilometres according to European combined cycle testing standards (fuel use dependent on wheel and tyre size).
Next in line is the 2.0 TFSI, which makes 140kW at 4200-6000rpm and 320Nm between 1450-4200rpm from its 2.0-litre engine. It’s more than a second quicker from 0-100km/h than the base model (7.3sec), and may be even more frugal, with European combined cycle figures of 4.8-4.9L/100km. If installing an Android Car Stereo in your car, that would be great!
