2 most common masterbatches in daily life you must be aware of

by Tran Hoa Marketing

Masterbatches are the platform also known as plastic or polymer, which is the foundation of the plastic making process. Plastic industry plays an important role in today's life. Thousands of household appliances and essential plastic accessories in industrial and agriculture manufacturing are made from plastic. In order to create the highest quality and most effective plastic products, manufacturers must understand the characteristics of each type of plastic masterbatches.

What are the primary types of masterbatches in plastic industry?

The most essential element in modern plastic industry is masterbatches. There are many different types of masterbatch for different purposes. Each one has its own strengths and functions. Below are the most common types in plastic production line.

Hard masterbatches and their advantages in plastic industry

In the plastic master batch industry, hard masterbatches is a type of plastic whose internal molecules connect to each other to form a very cohesive network. Compared with thermoplastics, hard resins do not change their physical properties as they are heated because of the rigid structure of molecules. Therefore, it can be said that hard plastic is very durable against the effects of heat as well as very good electrical insulation. Another point which is different from thermoplastics is that rigid plastics cannot be melted and reused many times.

The followings are some of the hard plastics commonly used in life and industries that are mixed with masterbatches to have additional features:

PC (Polycarbonate): high strength and heat resistance, used to make car glass based on its high clarity and hard wearing.

ABS (Acrylonitrin butadiene styrene): hard but not brittle, waterproof and durable, so they are able to withstand impact. Insulated ABS should be used for making electrical appliances (electrical outlet, electrical panel, etc.), refrigeration equipment ...

HIPS (High Impact Polystyrene): applied in making table tops seats, motorbike components, food technology (yogurt boxes, confectionery containers) etc.

PA (Poly Amid, also known as Nylon) possesses high rigidity, good electrical and thermal insulation and compatibility with oils, greases, or gasoline. PA masterbatches is widely used in the industries of automobiles, ships, used as machinery accessories such as gears, friction bearings, cushioning dampers, shock absorbers, paper processing machinery, printing machinery,...
