Hello, I am Patricia Fahrendorf. I am a new business owner and I am working to build a customer base. When I started this I thought that it would be a piece of cake. Set up my online store and do a little publicity, and I would be off and running.
Three (3) months later, I am learning that the business world is not as easy as I thought it might be. I work full time at getting this business of mine up and running. I also have a day time job and since this new venture is not making me a fortune. Yet, the key word is YET.
As a new business owner, I refuse to give up. I took 2 days vacation time with this three (3) day weekend coming up so that I could do some promotion on my business. I got my son who is who can't work because of back injuries, and my little 3 year old grand daughter to help. I went door to door ringing on doorbells, talking to people that I met in the streets. Handing out catalogs and Gift Cards. I explained that I was a new business and that I was local.
I had one customer ask me if there was local pickup or did they have to pay shipping? For the local customers in my city (Del City, OK) I am offering free shipping and pick up or delivery. I am using that as a method of drawing business in until I can get up and running with my company.
I would be interested in hearing from other new merchants to see how they are doing in their business ventures. What type of advertising they are using. I will write tomorrow about the advertising object of the day. Check back to see what I come up with next.

Thank you all for your wonderful input. Malok, thank you so much for knowing that I was sitting here scratching my head over the ABC. It was not clicking that it was the Apsense Business Center. I have so much to learn and I greatly appreciate all of your help. Paula, I am sorry the site is not loading. I have just had a look at your candles on your site. A bit more information - IE: Are they hand made by you, What are they made of Soy wax, parrafin etc and an approximate burn time.- would be nice. The images are good and I particularly like the way they enlarge whn you hover over them. As Mohann says your ABC could do with a bit of work on it. Oh for 30 hours in a day - LOL. It will come because you have a great base to work on.

Welcome to the world of online bujsiness. I started an online shop 10 months ago and although I have had sales whcih are growing, I find the SEO is the hardest part. Like Paula I know Sean from other medias and i too trust him. Good luck with your venture.

I had a look at your ABC, thanks to Paula's comment. I feel you have a work a bit on your ABC because I couldn't find any worthwhile info. Could you please work on the "Products and Services' page. I also notice that the RSS feed takes me to 404 error. Please send a ticket to the admin. Whenever you update your ABC, don't forget to ping and that needs the RSS feed to work!

I looked at the links in your ABC. The first link is the shop, like that. The Emprium link could not be found. I also found a WordPress blog that needs some work. I guess your are still building it. About Sean's offer to help: take it! I know and trust him and I am sure he can help you.

My ebay is making me a little money but it is keeping me busy with shipping. My catalog promotion is not paying off yet, but I still have hope. Paula, thank you for the suggestion. what did you think of my site? I ask because other people's opinions are very important. If they like it then I did something right. If not then I need to know what to change.
