Challenges of SEO Marketing Today For the Client
I just wrote this article about the challenges of SEO and why it is of the utmost importance to take in consideration local searches based on where you want your customers to come from.
Basically, there is no use to do Costa Rica SEO if you your business is in Mexico if you only cater to customers in the U.S.
The tricky part is figuring out how to target the right country based on back links because some backlinks have more value in one country and less in another.
Here is an example,
On a global level, the keyword, “Costa Rica Real Estate” gets 60,000 searches per month but if you break it down by country here are the results:

Top 5 results from the UK:

Top 5 results from Costa Rica:
|
Top 5 Results from Georgia, US
|
Top 5 Results Montreal, Canada
|
As you can see, If you are on the first page, most of the time the results will not be too drastic where half of the time you are not kicked out of the first page but as we all know, there is a huge difference in traffic when we are talking about going from the first position to the second position.

great article Fred, you got it right on the spot in terms of local searches being different depending on your ip address location. Don't forget the wheher you are logged in google or not factor as well as whether the search results being based on your search histroy is enabled or disabled or not will affect the search results.

Yoour welcome, I once had a client that had hired before me this SEO company and they kept telling me that they didnt understand why they did not get a lot of traffic even though they ranked first.
